The Book Rack: On the Island

The Book Rack: On the Island

On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves

A couple of years ago, I was on a trip to Hawaii and this was my beach read.  I don’t want to give much away in the terms of the plot.  This book has the perfect combination of adventure and romance.  In the case of On the Island, it felt like a fresh new story.  Not like anything I was currently reading.  If you are looking for quick poolside plunge, take this one with you.  Get lost in the islands and live on the edge of your seat with Anna and TJ as they fight for survival.  Then turn around and read it again.

Reason for being on the Rack:

I feel it’s only fitting to feature this book as the first Book Rack selection. On the Island was the first self-published book I ever downloaded. The cover in my Kindle cloud is still the original cover even though it’s now with an actual publishing house.  After reading this book, I realized the potential of ebook market.  I was about half-finished with The Mason List at the time.  I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do with my book once it was completed.  Thanks to On the Island, I saw a whole avenue of potential.  I downloaded three other self-published authors when I was finished.  They will be featured in later posts.

I was late to the game of using a Kindle.  I wanted to “feel” the book in the my hands.  But I was quick to change once I knew all the potential great stories I was missing by sticking to the good old paper format.  I still buy paper sometimes, but there’s a whole other world out there on a Kindle.
